Myofascial Release Therapy

The fascia (connective tissue) is a web like structure, which encases the musculoskeletal system, nerves, blood vessels and organs, within the body. Restrictions within the fascia can be created by a number of factors, such as illness, injury, scar tissue, stress, repetitive movement patterns and poor posture.

Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT) is a gentle hands on, soft tissue technique, applying sustained pressure to stretch and ease tension held in the fascia. The release of the restrictions improves movement and function, by restoring space and glide ability, within the body. This in turn can reduce associated aches and pains. If appropriate, recommendations on postural change, ergonomics, functional movement, yoga based exercise and self myofascial release techniques, can be made.

$90   =   Initial Assessment or 1 hr MFR session

$90   =   MFR follow up (approx 1 hr)

$75   =   MFR follow up (approx 45 min)

$60   =   MFR under 16 yrs old  (approx 30 min)

$215 =   Pre-paid follow up MFR package x 3 sessions (approx 45 min/session)

If you have long standing discomfort or restrictions of movement, it recommended that you have a minimum of 3 sessions to allow your body to respond to the MRT.

Example of conditions, which may be assisted by MRT:

- TMJ (jaw pain)

- Headaches and migraines

- Postural aches and pain

- Stress and anxiety

- Breathing inefficiencies

- Carpal Tunnel

- Fibromyalgia

- Plantar Fasciitis

Myofascial Release Therapy and Yoga Add On

McLoughlin Scar Release Therapy

This amazing technique involves the application of gentle pressure and movement to the scar and surrounding tissue. The technique helps to create space, within the dense multi-directional collagen fibres that form the scar. This can enhance the surrounding lymph and blood flow, help to decompress nerves to improve sensation and enhance movement. The softening of the scar tissue can potentially allow the scars depth and parameter to lessen and start to blend in with the surrounding tissue. The scar tissue can be worked on 8 weeks post injury or surgery, providing the healing process has been uneventful. The technique can also be useful for conditions such as, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Plantar Fasciitis.

It's not uncommon for scar tissue to also impact on posture and movement, causing discomfort in other areas of the body, for example abdominal scars such as C-sections can be linked to lower back pain. Relaxabub can combine scar tissue you release, with Myofascial Release and advise on posture and yoga inspired stretches to give out the best outcome.

Due to the emotional aspects of working with scars and possible trauma related to scaring, we will always approach sessions with sensitivity and proceed at your pace.
